Scientific Overview

Longevity peptides target the fundamental hallmarks of aging: telomere attrition, cellular senescence, mitochondrial dysfunction, and epigenetic drift. These represent some of the most ambitious interventions in geroscience research.

Mechanisms Involved

Aging involves telomere shortening via insufficient telomerase, senescent cell accumulation through p53/p21 and p16 pathways, mitochondrial dysfunction from ROS and cardiolipin oxidation, epigenetic alterations, and stem cell exhaustion. Peptides target each hallmark through specific molecular mechanisms.

Research Highlights

Epitalon activates telomerase and was associated with lifespan extension in animal models. FOXO4-DRI selectively eliminates senescent cells. SS-31 stabilizes inner mitochondrial membrane cardiolipin. Humanin and MOTS-c decline with age and show cytoprotective effects.
